Festival of Colors

This past week we went on a group date to the Festival of Colors in Spanish Fork. It is a Hindu festival at their temple--although the majority of the thousands of people were non-Hindu students. When you go, you buy bags of chalk and then when they tell you that you can go everyone starts throwing it at each other. Despite getting an eye full and a nose full we came out unharmed and it was so much fun!

So wow! This semester has flown by! Last Monday I started my Field Experience in a 3rd grade class. I LOVE IT! The teacher that we are working with is amazing! She is so helpful and I am learning so much from her. This semester is our diversity experience so we are in a bilingual classroom. The teacher teaches one week in English and one week in Spanish. So that is going to be difficult, and once in a while she talks to the students in Spanish and I have no idea what she is saying.

A couple of days ago was the highlight of the experience. One of the students was walking in and he gave me an apple! I thought it was so cute! My first apple as a teacher. I even took a picture to remember it. Haha.

Another highlight was when I was waiting to take my class out to the playground and a little first grader just ran up and wrapped his arms around my legs. He looked up at me and said, "I just like to give hugs," and then he skipped off to the playground. That kept me smiling all day.

So other than that I'm just going to try and survive then end of school and all the papers and tests! I think it is our teachers mission to try and make us appreciate summer by trying to kill us before hand. I'm not really sure but they do succeed in stressing me out!
